Developed for videography and photography
With the Samyang 8/3.8 Video MFT, you are optimally equipped for both video and photography without having to make time-consuming changes to your camera. The aperture can be adjusted continuously, minimizing exposure transitions. The aperture ring and focus ring are equipped with a gear ring and are therefore optimized for use with follow focus systems.
Ideal for landscape, architecture and art photography
The Samyang 8/3.8 Video MFT with a focal length of 8 mm and a speed of T/3.8 is ideal for impressive landscape shots thanks to its wide angle of view. This high-quality wide-angle lens is also ideal for architectural and art photography. The special effect is achieved thanks to the 180° image angle and the resulting fisheye effect. The focus and aperture are set manually. The closest focusing distance is 9 cm! The lens is only suitable for cameras with an MFT sensor!
Excellent image quality thanks to multi-coated lenses and Nano Coating
Great importance was attached to an optimum lens design for excellent imaging performance. All 9 glass lenses are multi-coated, which prevents reflections and therefore provides the image with more light. The coating also achieves better contrast and more brilliant color rendition. The reduction of reflections is also supported by a nano coating. One of the 9 lenses is aspherical and thus ensures optimum correction of spherical image errors. In addition, two lenses are made of ED glass (extra low dispersion), which optimally corrects chromatic aberrations.
Very high-quality workmanship
The metal housing is very robust and impresses with its elegant appearance. In addition to the high-quality optics, the built-in lens hood, which prevents light entering from the side and lens reflections, ensures optimum image results and further design options.
Why the aperture is sometimes given in T
In photography, the abbreviation "f" is used for aperture (from "focal length"). The specified value indicates the ratio between the focal length and the entrance pupil on the lens. In the film and video sector, on the other hand, the abbreviation "T" is used, which stands for "transmission". This value is calculated from the aperture f and the light loss in the respective lens. It indicates the net brightness of the image that hits the sensor. This makes it possible to change the lens when filming: as long as the "T-Stop" is selected the same for both, it is guaranteed that two shots filmed with different lenses of the same subject will be equally bright. This means there are no jumps in brightness when they are merged in the edit.
