Versatile telephoto focal length with high speed With a slight telephoto focal length on APS-C, the 50 mm is a compact lens for mirrorless system cameras. It is versatile and is particularly suitable for portrait and landscape photography. Thanks to its very high speed of f/1.2, it is ideal for taking pictures in low light or with a shallow depth of field. With an angle of view of approx. 31°, the lens achieves images from a natural perspective. The aperture can be set from f/1.2 to f/16. The focus adjustment is soft and smooth.
High-quality optics The lens has an aperture with 9 blades, which enable an almost circular opening. The bokeh is balanced, the highlights are round when the aperture is open. A particularly high-quality optical construction consisting of 9 multi-coated glass lenses achieves outstanding imaging results. In addition, 2 aspherical lenses ensure the best possible correction of chromatic aberrations. Lateral incident light and lens reflections are prevented by a lens hood, which can also be removed if required. The robust lens is internally focusing, which means that the overall length of the optics does not change. Focusing is manual.
Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor Lenses that were developed for cameras with an APS-C sensor can also be used on cameras with a full-frame sensor in some cases (mainly using an adapter). Due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the sensor area shows everything outside the image circle in black. The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera therefore corresponds to that of a camera with an APS-C sensor and is correspondingly smaller. The images must therefore be cropped in post-processing. In the video sector, this method requires framing in post-production. The use of APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.
