The compact 14mm Samyang wide-angle lens produces unique images. The wide-angle lens is much more accurate than the standard lens at the same shooting distance. The Samyang lens is suitable for the entire spectrum of wide-angle photography, but especially for landscape photography and indoor photography. The distinct depth impression of the wide-angle images offers room for creative photography.
Enormous width and great depth of field
The lens has a short focal length. With a close-up limit of just 28 cm, the manually focusable wide-angle lens is particularly suitable for sharp, high-contrast images at close range. Thanks to the excellent light intensity of 1:2.8, optimal exposures without long exposure times are possible even under unfavourable lighting conditions. The image angle of the full-format sensor is 116°, of the APS-C sensor 90°.

High pixel count for excellent optical functionality
The extraordinary imaging performance is due to the elaborate optical system. It consists of 14 lenses in 10 groups. The two aspherical lenses (one hybrid), 2 ED lenses and 3 HR lenses deserve special mention. The aspherical lenses (ASP) minimize aberrations by reducing unwanted light scattering. The ED (extra-low distortion) lenses prevent chromatic aberrations. The HR (high refractive) lens optimizes the light path for a clear and luminous image. Samyang's own Ultra Multi Coating UMC reduces aberrations and unwanted refractions that can lead to flares and ghosting. With these matched high precision aspherical and high refractive lenses, the various possible aberrations are minimized, resulting in a clear image. In particular, the lens has excellent distortion correction and offers excellent resolution in the center as well as at the edges. In addition, the lens hood prevents the annoying lateral incidence of light and lens reflections, which would lead to loss of contrast.
Innovative design and weather protection
The lens is not only technically elaborate, but also outstanding in appearance. It interprets the design of the mirrorless cameras in a new way. The camera and lens thus form a harmonious duo. The excellently crafted 14 mm 2.8 lens has a compact design despite the solid metal housing. The focus ring is frosted, which not only looks good on the lens, but also gives the photographer a good grip. The lens features Samyang's weather protection and can withstand snow or light rain showers.
Advantages of a full frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensor
The Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 is designed for full format. Of course you can also use it on cameras with smaller sensors, e.g. APS-C. Since a correspondingly smaller section of the full-frame image circle hits the sensor from the lens, the image angle is also smaller (116° for full-frame, 90° for APS-C on Canon). Thus, the image contents of the APS-C image are a central section of the image that a full format camera would display. Aberrations usually occur at the edge, especially with wide-angle lenses, so the quality for APS-C cameras is always at the maximum.
